CHKD Member Event: Cross-border employee assignment

Date: 29th of July

Time: 9 am -10:10 am

An international outlook has long been a success factor for many companies. In order to hold their own in the increasing competition for new markets, clientele and employees, companies have to compete with their competitors not only on a national but also on a global level. As a result, more and more employees are being assigned by their employers all over the globe as key contacts to ensure efficient coordination between headquarters and overseas operations or to gain international experience for the purposes of human resources development.

As a multinational employer, cross-border employee assignment is no new topic for you. Any type of international employment can present a gauntlet of challenges such as contract and policy management, immigration, relocation of the employees and families, cost management, tax and social security matters. But a well-run and successfully managed secondment program can really benefit your international expansion and your employees.

Put simply, a secondment is a temporary work place of an employee to another area where this employee usually works. This covers a number of possible scenarios, such as intra-company secondment, intra-group secondment and external secondment.

This seminar will cover the following issues of concern to businesses:

  1. Different forms of employee secondment
  2. In the case of no entity employment
  3. In-group dispatch (ICT) and local employment in Germany during the dispatch period
  4. Germany’s new legal regulations on employee assignments
